Is there any other way to install update in MS CRM 4.0 without editing the registry? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to have some information concerning a new installation of Ms CRM 4.0 on windows 7 on a PC. While doing the update of roll up 1 and 2 in the registry I had a crash on the PC. Is It possible to do an installation and update without using the registry. Each time I have a new PC, I need to go to the registry and manually add the update. How can I proceed with the installation without using registry editor?

  • You might want to have a look at this thread.  Windows 7 is a fairly new OS so there are still some issues getting uncovered.  However, most of the reviews regarding CRM deployed on Windows 7 have been positive.

    A couple of questions,

not sure why you are applying both Update Rollup 1 and 2 as all you would need is 2 since it is cumulative.  I'm also not sure why you need to make registry changes?  Maybe consider upgrading your system to the latest update - Update Rollup 6 as that update might be more stable than the earlier ones.

  • Hi Shalinee,

What was the change that you were making to the server registry? Was the change required for an issue you had on the server? Was it a change related to MS CRM on windows 7?

As far as I have experienced, If it is for an issue that does not effect you, you can get away without making the change to the registry.

Please post back if I've missed anything or if this does not answer your question.
