Recommendation on which course to take RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I'm quite young to be going into this sector but I'd appreciate the help. I'm capable with computer hardware and the workings of Windows 7. I just need a few pointers on which qualification to take that could help me further understand servers, how they work and maintaining them. I am currently looking at MCITP and MSCE, do you think these would be good qualifications to be interested in?

    Regards

    Chris

  • If you are just starting out with no previous experience on legacy systems, I would recommend starting with the newest technology.  This means starting with Server 2008 R2, and the entry exam for that is 70-640 Active Directory Infrastructure.

MS 70-640 MCTS Windows Server 2008 AD config

  • Since you already have experience with Windows 7 i would suggest you look at MCITP: Enterprise administrator on Windows Server 2008 and the first exam on this path would be 70-680 Windows 7, configuring which is followed by the server exams and AD exams.
