Windows Live Essential wldlog.dll NOT WORKING

    Question

  • Hi

So I spent tons of hours trying to fix this, and still nothing.

Basically, it says "This application has failed to star because wldlog.dll was not found"

May I just say a few things

    REINSTALLING DOESN'T HELP

    Uninstalling/repairing doesn't work either.

So, I try to download that dll file, put it in there. It asks for another wldlog.dll, eventually, I get to UXcore.dll, and afterward, it STILL DOESN'T WORK

This is really getting on my nerves. I tried EVERYTHING

When I install, the "messenger" file doesn't seem to have any of those files; nor does it seem to accept them

    PLEASE HELP

    P.S.: I'm running windows Vista 64-bit

    Thanks in advance

  • I have the exact same error and same problem.  If you found a solution please let me know.

Unfortunately Microsoft's moderates seem to enjoy playing a game of go to XYZ forum, so you go to XYZ forum and they tell you to go to MNO forum ... don't you just love it??

Anyway, if you found out the problem, please let me know.

    Thanks, Rob.

  • I think I had the same problem as you and I fixed by doing this:

    1. Refer to this website: https://oscar981.wordpress.com/2011/01/30/codes-msi-for-uninstalling-windows-live-2011/

    2. Try to run all of them if you have installed all the component of WLM. But I think "Windows Live UX Platform" is the key. Try to run the code and uninstall it.

    3. reinstall WLM.

The hypothetical reason for the problem is you accidentally deleted the Windows Live UX Platform (i.e. wldlog.dll, uxcore.dll), WLM doesn't work without them. When you try to reinstall WLM, the Windows Live UX Platform is not completely uninstalled, so the installation just assume it has already been installed and not to repair it or reinstall it.

    Hope this helps
