Shedule Task and Updates not running on XP

  Hi;

  Scheduled tasks will not run on a windows XP machine. It became noticeable will trying to get an automatic online backup program to run.

  To confirm that there was an issue an attempt was made to run Adobe Flash, Apple and Google update but they did not run.

  Short of reinstalling the OS can you give a recommendation as to what should be done.

  
  Was checking my records and realised that this machine had a similar issue before and it was actually caused by Windows Updates being corrupted. However, I cannot remember what I did at the time to fix it.
