ff topic - Help-- I can't find my son's senior project and EAGLE SCOUT project in Word 2003!!! RRS feed

  • PLEASE HELP!!   I deleted one of the user names on our family windows pc-- I saved the documents when prompted-- however now We can't find my son's SENIOR project for school as well as his EAGLE SCOUT project for boy scouts!!!  These documents show up-- however when we click them on to open them-- there is a message that says it can't be found-- and we have to "browse" for the program that created them.  Please help!!!!!  I'm a single divorced mom who can't afford the $49 charge for windows support!!!

    However, you should be able to search for the files using Windows Explorer. It sounds like you are trying to open them from within Word using the last open documents link, which is now invalid since the files have moved to a new location.

     

    If you deleted the User Account *and* the personal folders for that account, the files are gone. If, however, you deleted the account and answered the prompt to *not* delete the files and folders for the profile, the files are there.

    Open Windows Explorer, go to \Documents and Settings\[username]\ - where [username] is the account you deleted. As long as you are the administrator of the PC, you should be able to browse the \[username] folder, which will contain a \My Documents folder for that deleted user account.
