  • i BOUGHT THIS COMPUTER WILL A COPY OF OFFICE ALREADY INSTALLED.iT WAS A LARGE PUBLIC RELATIONS FIRM AND THEY WERE SELLING SEVERAL OF THEIR OUT DATED COMPUTERS.  i DOUBT IF THEY STOLE THEIR COPIES SO DOES THIS MEAN THAT THEY CAN NOT SELL THE COMPUTER WITH THE SOFT WARE ALREADY INSTALLED ///

  • Hello AHDOWE,

    Yes, that is correct.  Companies who install Volume Licensing software on their computers under a Volume Licensing Agreement with Microsoft are required to remove this software from the computers before they dispose of the computers.

    This does not necessarily mean that the computer is not licensed to run Windows or other Microsoft software, it means that the VL software has to be removed.  The computer's original license to run Windows does remain with the computer, as evidenced by the Certificate of Authenticity for Windows that is likely still on the computer.
