  • "whitelist"?  Do you mean manage the kind of files allowed.

FSRM is not a file system.  It is a service that allows you to create a single share that contains multiple  folders from different file servers making them appear to all be in the same location.  It also provides replication services for redundancy or for distribution of files to other locations.

To control the content of a file server you need to add the file services and configure the rules.

    DFSR overview and capabilities: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-R2-and-2012/jj127250(v%3dws.11)

To learn what DFSR and Windows File Services are post in the File Services and Storage Forum.

    Here is the FSRM https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/fsrm/fsrm-overview

Here are the Storage Services for 2016 and 2019: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/whats-new-in-storage

  • There seems to be a mixup here. I am talking about FSRM not DFSR.  FSRM has white lists and black lists. Please read "https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/7f7c6ca0-0c0c-4898-aed2-d9c948b5fa33/fsrm-file-group" and perhaps it will help you understand my question.

Yes.  I posted links to FSRM above.  You need to post in the Files and Storage forum as noted above.  I recommend reading thhe documentation for FSRM and Storage services then post any questions in the Storage forum.
