  • Slugger,

Definetly post in the Vista Forum as Dan requested.

The 0x80004005 error is almost always indicative of the computer not being able to fully communicate with MS servers when using the Key Updater Utility.  You didnt indicate using this utility so nor really sure.   The Key Updater has to have full access to the servers in order to validate about 6,000 files.  Miss-configured firewalls, antivirus programs, antispyware protective programs, and miss-configured ISP DNS servers have been known to cause the error you are seeing.  Recommend shutting down the firewall, antivirus programs and antispyware programs temporarily and try to re-validate. Once you are successful please reactivate all the programs you temporarily deactivated.

Please address these possibilities and try again.  Some previous posters have reported that temporarily changing to different DNS servers helped them work around the problem. Also I would contact your Internet Support Provider and let them know your having problems reaching the MS servers for validation. There may be some problems with your settings. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks to everyone I've discovered the problem and have taken corrective steps. I'm now up and working.

The problem was in the VOLUME LICENSE. We had the wrong licence and when we corrected that everything returned to normal. Our old key type was KMS which requires to connect to a Network every 180 days. Because I wasn't connected to a network my product failed as it was designed to do.

    Thanks for everyones help!
