My community contributions links to my profile using my old display name RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just made a community contribution to a page (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt203634(v=vs.85).aspx), but the contribution links to my old display name (returning a 404). The display name was changed last year. The contribution I made also does not show up under my account. What's the problem?

  • And strangely... To these forum posts, an additional "signature" is used ("ffd"), which I'm familiar with and may have entered somewhere, but it's not editable anywhere in my profile?

That would be Quick Access\My Settings\Profile Signature

For the other issue it seems you may need to get in touch with whoever administers the MSDN page community additions. For that you could ask fissues [at] microsoft [dot] com or possibly try over here.

  • It's possible the old credentials are still stored on your desktop in Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager

  • I just created my Microsoft account on a clean install (new disk) of Windows 10. When I browse to the page I commented on ( https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt203634(v=vs.85).aspx ), my new display name appears on the profile item in the dev network toolbar. It's only in the footer of the community contribution that the old display name (and corresponding link) appears.
