Does changing Partitiong Scheme changes SID? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed Windows 7 and activated it with having only one partition(80GiBs out of 500GiBs), remaing were not created.

Now, I want to create a system image for later reinstallation if required, but before that I am thinking of first creating custom partioning then make image.

So, after reintllation from image, will my SID get change and validation check would invalidate the product?

  • So long as the Disk ID hasn't changed there should be no problem whatever.

the only problem may come if other hardware has also changed - to the point that it triggers a re-activation request - but that would only require a telephone activation, unless you are using an OEM license and change teh motherboard.
