Windows vista business verification/Activation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Windows Vista Business installed on a laptop. It came this way form the manufacture(lenovo), but after a couple weeks into it I have been receiving messages asking me for a valid product key, I have tried numerous times to enter the key on the Microsoft genuine slip found on the base of the laptop, but to no avail. To cut a long story short, Vista has now locked me out and the only with i can gain access would be with 'reduced functionality, type a different product key, or contact Microsoft (but there is a high charge for this option)'. I also have a message in the right hand corner of my screen saying
    'Windows Vista (TM)
    Build 6000
This copy of Windows is not genuine'

    Any help is appreciated

  • The only help I can offer is to suggest that you choose the "type a different product key" option and enter your key there.  Make sure to click "Next" and not "Activate Windows online now" if that's an option you're given.

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to phone Lenovo.

    Good luck!
