Virtual Disc Service

Question
-
I am running Windows 10 Pro on a x 32 machine and Virtual Disc Services will not open. It is indicated as running but not visible in the Administrator's populated view.
I have researched this on the Internet and have not been successful in implementing suggested fixes.
This computer has upgraded from Vista, Windows 7 and now to Windows 10 Pro there have not been any interim crashes, formats or re-installation of the operating system.
This is a personal laptop and not a family or business computer. I am the only one with administrator privileges. I do run two identical hard drives that are not mirrored but synced using Casper. I use the disc services to compare volumes and verify the copy is complete and usable.
I have had Trend Micro on every device I own for ten years plus.
I run Malwarebytes periodically and the Microsoft Malware software once a month.
I have run scannow multiple times and the system health check does not return any issues.
At the suggestion of others the current settings are:
component services/services/ virtual disc services
running, manual, local system
restart, restart, take no action
the box to allow interaction with the desktop is checked
dependencies are Remote Porcedure Call>DCOM server process call>RPC endpoint mapper
I haven't replaced vxd.exe because the service seems to be running and the scans haven't returned a bad system file. Since I have administrator privileges I don't think my virus protection or other software would block me.
This is my first post and I hope I have chosen the right forum.
This is a long term problem that I have explored and researched repeatedly. I have reached the limits of my abilities to correct this situation. Thank you for your help.
