When pc starts a message appears in bottom left of screen stating Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002, This copy of Windows is not genuine. A dialogue box appears and asks me to activate windows where I can either activate now or activate later. If I click activate now I am asked to insert my OS disc but the disc never autoplays.Tuesday, June 29, 2010 1:15 AM

4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32

I don't know why you should be asked to insert your disk - it's totally unnecessary. Please read the Announcements and Stickies in the forum's index page, and reply back with your MGADiag report

Once you click Copy, the report is copied to the Clipboard - you then are able to paste it into either your response here, or into Notepad (or both, if you want to keep a local copy as well as the one sent here)

I can't see anything obviously wrong with the report - other than the fact that it's declaring 'Invalid License' :)
...and the fact that a section of the report appears to be missing - have you edited the Licensing Data section out? Please don't as it IS important, and cannot either identify you or your machine.
What version of Windows is showing on the Sticky label (either on the bottom of the machine or in the battery compartment)?
Have you done a BIOS update?
Wha may give us some more data is if you go to the Validation site, and attempt to validate there if/when it fails make a note of the EXACT error message, and then try the Validation Diagnostics tool.
Once that's complete, run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

I copied and pasted the report exactly as it appeared. The sticky label on the bottom of the laptop says Windows Vista Home Premium OEMAct. I don't know what a BIOS update is, so I haven't preformed an update that I know of. Where is the validation site?Sunday, July 4, 2010 9:28 PM

The validation results say that "Validation Incomplete. The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of Windows Vista is genuine. Recommended solution run validation again later." Where can I find the validation diagnostics tool?Monday, July 5, 2010 10:41 PM
