  • Question

  • Hi, up until 6pm (GMT) my pc was working fine. The next minute my PC restarts itself and when it loads back up it told me i had a non genuine copy. This completely baffled me as this pc hasn't been modyfied since its purchase from a legitmate store (Curry's). After perusing the Windows site and following every possible option (running cmd.exe, typing net start slsvc, etc etc.) and still no possible results. Scanning my PC i found 2 trojan viruses and a backdoor virus, leading to the conclussion that my pc had been hacked. i quickly disconnected my pc from the internet whilst i cleaned my pc of infections. But, alas, nothing seems to have worked. I have now been locked out of my C:\ drive, my control panel and even cmd.exe. Live OneCare crashes out and seems to be finding more and more viruses and infections every time i run it. I dont have a disc as the pc didnt come with one, just the OEM Code. multiple errors of "not enough Quota" and Invalid commands are around every corner. or that certain things aren't accessible. It's quite irritating. How can I resolve this?

  • Hello JaiTea,

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the “Windows” tab, and click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

If you do not have access to the Start Button:

    1)    Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.

    2)    Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.

    3)    A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”

    4)    When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.

    5)    Return to this thread http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/90ac3f1c-b06d-4af2-b5b1-fdb9bf050d21

    6)    In a reply post, paste the Diagnostic Report.

    Thank you,

    Stephen
