Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook (2013 on Windows 8.1) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Getting the error:
"Cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server because we cannot authenticate your credentials. Check your connection or contact your administrator for more help."

    - I have fully updated since installing the Outlook add-in - There were around 16 updates available after installing it.

-- I rebooted since installing those too

    - I have changed my password as I read that for some reason special characters can cause issues.

    - I am able to log in online via all browsers

    - I am able to log in via the Windows Store Dynamics CRM app

    - I have tried clearing all the cached credentials from credential manager and trying to authenticate again

    - I have tried repairing the Dynamics CRM Outlook add-in install

Here is the log file from the latest attempt to configure the Outlook addin:

Ok, just to be sure, did you select Online from the combobox during the setup or you put your organization url?

I have also tried that - it does not work either.

Have cleared saved credentials in credential manager between trying those 2 different server URLs

  • Hi BradHubOne,

What about the time on your machine? Is it getting time from Microsoft servers? Make sure the time is correct and try to configure CRM.

Just tried again and seemed to get a little bit further with Configuring CRM but still failed - it did show the organisation correctly though, before failing:

  • You're getting an Access Denied error. If you are not an admin, I would have the CRM admin confirm that your user is both enabled, and has permission to use the Outlook plugin.

If you are, you need to open a ticket with Microsoft from your Office 365 account so they can fix it.

I just added a new role based on the following article: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/dynamicscrmsupportblog/archive/2013/06/21/minimum-permissions-configure-the-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011-outlook-client.aspx

I then added that role to my user in Dynamics CRM.

Still failing to configure in Outlook.

I have a newer version on Sign On Assistant already installed - I regularly use PowerShell to manage various services.

I can use the url https://disco.crm5.dynamics.com but it still does not work.

I can use 'CRM Online' as well but still can't configure the Outlook AddIn.

Time is sync'd with Microsoft NTP servers, and I updated it, and crosschecked with times online.

As per previous posts, I also set permissions and assigned my user to that role.

Any other suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

I just installed Office and CRM on an Azure box - it worked.

I guess it is a local issue with my machine.

I tried creating a new mail profile, but that did not work.

I will run an online repair on Office, and reinstall CRM and see what happens.

  • when you have now the hint that it is definetly a local issue with your machine, do the following:

uninstall crm, office, visualc components, onlineassistence, .net components, SQLs and components, reports etc..

after delete the registry keys for crmif still present

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM_Setup

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient

    reboot your machine

    install office

    winupdates

    install crm

    reboot

    test again
