One more win 7 not genuine

Question
-
I think I hijacked someone else's question earlier, so I'll repost. My Gateway running Win 7 crashed a couple of weeks ago, and the only thing that got it rolling again was a reinstall, which the program handled itself, while wiping out all other programs on my computer. All was fine until a couple of days ago when Windows offered to check to see if my software was genuine. Since the only Windows that has ever been on the machine was the one that did the reinstall, I figured no problem. Now I'm told it's not genuine. I tried some solutions offered to Endless CTSA in the FAQs, but when I try any of the slui.exe's suggested I either wind up with no logo to click on (exe 3) or the %windir% address doesn't come up. What's the next move? My diagnostics are below.

Tampered Service: sppsvcThese errors indicate that the sppsvc service is not functioning properly. Please type services.msc in the search box, hit enter, scroll down to software protection and insure it is running and set to automatic, delayed start (right click, click on properties). Now, look for the SPPSVC service and make sure it is running and set to manual, if it is not running start it.
Reboot, go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and attempt to validate. if it fails proceed to the following paragraph.
SFC/system restore
type cmd in the search box of the start menu, right click on the icon that appears and type sfc /scannow without the qoutes and press enter, allow SFC to run, reboot when directed. If you get any error messages write them down exactly as they appear. After rebooting go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and attempt to validate.
If that does not work then type system restore in the search box, click on the resulting program and follow the wizards prompts to restore to a previous point prior to the non-genuine status.
If that does not work then start a no cost wga tech support incident at the following link http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactwga

OK, been through all the suggestions above, called the 866 number, got an 800 number that's not open until tomorrow, so for now, I'm still illegitimate. More later.

Called the 800 number and after 6 referrals to four different phone numbers, I finally got connected to Dinah, with whom I worked from 5:30 to 11 am, but my Win 7 is now "genuine" even if it has a different passcode than before, and took two hourlong downloads. The whole thing was a black box from my end, but we got it done. Thanks for the referral to the website.
It's on MS's list as "resolved", and so far it's working.
