On 7-29 an Microsoft Message Error Box appeared that indicated that the Product ID number was invalid. I proceeded to go through their wizard to correct the problem, but after doing this a couple of times with no results, I found that the number they had listed was NOT the number that was on the back of my computer. Computer is a Laptop, Compaq Vista Home -Basic, purchased 11-08. NEITHER NUMBERs SATISFIED THE WIZARD.
I have contacted Comaq, read forums on the internet, and have not found anyone else with my problem, and Compaq says to contact Microsoft.
I believe I read in a forum that if I didn't correct the problem within a certain number of days, Windows would completely shut down.
Please give me some direction onn how to solve the problem.
