CIS car insurance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
I work for The Co-operative Bank as an online consultant.  I am having some troubles understanding why one of our brand terms doest appear on page in MSN live search for the term ' CIS CAR INSURANCE'
we have number 1 rankings for the term in all the other search engines.

I wonder whether you can help me solve this problem, as all our affiliates are occupying the natural space
    thanks
    Nick

  • Nbam,

Has there been any change to this issue? If not, could you let me know what you have tried? As I am sure you know (as reflected in your post) adding CIS to H1 tags, Title tags, and including it in the page's content is the best way to rank for that keyword. After spending Millions, how resistant are they to continue using CIS somewhere on their site?

  • Hi, Nick.

What is the domain name of the website you are asking about?

In my Google search on "cis car insurance" co-operativeinsurance.co.uk was #1.

In my Yahoo search on "cis car insurance" cis.co.uk is #1 and co-operativeinsurance.co.uk was #2.

In my Live search on "cis car insurance" co-operativeinsurance.co.uk was #11.  If you are asking why this website isn't #1 in Live, the short answer is probably that that all the search engines have different algorithms for ranking search results and you should expect the same numerical ranking in every search engine.

When you say "all the other search engines", which ones are you referring to?  I ask because a number of them use or "enhanced by" Google or Yahoo! so one would expect the same results from them as the other two.

I am in Canada and searching for worldwide results.

  • Hi Duane
The SE we have primary focus on are:
    Google UK
    Yahoo UK
    Msn UK
    Ask UK

All the CIS domain names are on 301 redirects to www.co-operativeinsurance.co.uk since the company went through a serious brand transformation early in the year. (circa £200million)

This rebrand and the new website / domain names has obviously caused us in the web team some serious problems - since the CIS brand and domain was well ranked with 1000's of inbound links - and a known brand name and sudden change. (CIS - did stand for Co-operative Insurance Society) - but everyone in the UK knows it as CIS.

thanks for your time on this, as i am under quite a bit of pressure to hammer down the natural search in the MSN space
     - I know MSN likes content, adding CIS somewhere near the top of the current insurance page would be my quick win - similar to what we have done with the site's meta title tag

    Cheers
