  • Question

  • Hello,

    I'm currently working on a Toshiba Satellite P25-S477.
    The pc come with a bundled Win XP Home edt. I have upgraded it to Win XP Pro fully licensed form University of Pittsburgh software center by doing a clear installation. Now it says "this is not genuine"...THIS IS GENUINE as much as all the money I have paid for it.
    A solution, please....

  • Yes, that specific product key is not slated to be used internationally. I would recommend contacting your IT Administrator ASAP to resolve the issue.

    These are the same subset of questions that I'm asking other users, but please bear with me.

    A few questions (if you could answer them, that'd be great!)

    1 - when did this start happening?

    2 - what geographical location are YOU in?

    3  - Are you still a student/employee there?

    Thanks for your time,

    1 - when did this start happening? it has started today, when I started the pc for the first time. The pc is setted to download automatically the updates from windows. There is also Norto SystemWork 2006 and ZoneLab pro running (if it could mean something...)

    2 - what geographical location are YOU in? I'm currently in Italy. I go back and forth. I'm data manager for clinical study that is driven in Pisa (Italy) and Pittsburgh (US);

    3  - Are you still a student/employee there? yes... I'm using the laptop of a professor who works in Pitt and who had bought the license this summer from the Software Licensing Services 315 S. Bellefield Ave - Pittsburgh trough the Microsoft CA Faculty/Staff lic program. In the same day he has always bought the license for the Office 2003 running on this pc as well. I have the invoice, if needed.

    Let me double-check something, I promise to get back to you within the end of the US Business Day (PST). I believe that specific institution has a special ruleset agreed upon by MSFT and your IT department.
