  • Tebb,

Can you let us know exactly what you are experiencing? Are you receiving any error codes and/or statements which identifies the problem?

    Thank you,

I am not receiving any error messages.  The problem is my computer refuses to install any of the windows updates.  I have the update set to automatic and told it to allow them to be installed everyday.  When the computer is shut down it acts like it is going to install then it just shuts down.  When I try to manually install updates it says "the following updates were not installed"  "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)"
This is all I have so I hope it helps.

  • Download  PsExec v1.94 from:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553.aspx

and place the file in your root directory (C:\)

Download the WGA update executable from:
    http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowsxp-kb892130-enu-x86_7e1189ce89fb0c693cad6432a4c2f982dcea49a0.exe

    and install in C:\temp.

Rename the file in C:\temp to WGA.exe (original file is too long)

    At DOS command line type:

    psexec -i -s c:\temp\WGA.exe

  • Hi Carey

I did all of the above things you had suggested and unfortunately it did not work.  Thanks for your time and help you have given.  I hope we can figure something out to fix this short of reinstalling windows.  I do have the disk for SP2 do you think it would help to reinstall that?  Thanks again for your help I really appreciate it.
