Media Connect Service not running - Network Health Yellow

Question
-
The Network Health icon is showing yellow - At Risk.
The Network Health panel shows the following message:
The Windows Media Connect Service is not running.
The event log shows the following message:
Event Type: Error Event Source: WMConnectCDS
Event Category: None Event ID: 14305
Date: 4/30/2009 Time: 2:03:41 AM
User: N/A Computer: SERVER
Description:Service 'WMConnectCDS' failed to start correctly, due to 'Init MacAddressControl' returning error '0x80040154'.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Followed by a service stopped message, Any attempt to restart the service results in the same message,
I'm not interested in the Media Connect Service (at the moment) and have disabled the service to stop the messages in the event log
Questions/Issues:
1) The "How do I fix this" link on the Network Health panel goes to the MS WHS home page. Totally useless.
2) The help and support center heperlink is also useless. No results found.
3) What does this error mean and how do I get rid of it?
4) Or failing that, how do I disable the Media Sharing in PP2 so that the Network Health icon returns to reen?

Hi,
Can you file a bug on Connect and include client and server cabs and list any add-ins you have installed on the server?
Thanks!

I have the exact same problem. You can turn the status green by disabeling the Media Sharing service via the WHS Console (in settings). Then reboot your server and the status is green. But this also means Media Sharing does not work.Thursday, April 30, 2009 8:43 AM

Thanks for your reply. Disabling the Media Sharing service via the WHS Console did turn the icon green.
However, the problem of the Windows Media Connect Service not starting still exists.

Something more helpful than "file a bug report" used as a stock answer would be useful.
Is there anyone with a little more knowledge ?

Filing a bug report forwards this to the developers.
