Performance concerns for OLTP RRS feed

  • Question

  • The communication between client and server appears to real time.  If numerous clients sync during the same timeframe, what would be the effect to online performance?  Using MSMQ to throttle the concurrent clients does not seem to be an option.  Creating a separate database with SQL Server Replication would be an option.  Are there any other ideas or suggestions to minimize the impact of sync to online users?

  • It all depends really.
If you expect a large number of concurrent sync'ing clients that might overload the server for local users, you might want to offload some of that load to a second server and use DB replication to keep both in sync.

  • As Rafik stated, the perfomance realy depends on your scenarios. one of rule is trying to avoid synchronizing clients and dong local changes at the same time ( but sometime this IS a real world scenarios).

what is you scenrio in this case, such as work load, number of clients etc ?
