My computer exploded. When I try to load Microsoft Office Professional 2007 onto a new computer, it tells me my valid product key is wrong. What can I do ? Clearly I cannot uninstall MS office off the old computer first. Help please

Hello a5werthsdzdj,
Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:
OGA Data-->
Office Status: 102
Microsoft Office Professional 2007 - 100 Genuine
2007 Microsoft Office system - 100 Genuine
OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002
Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002
Office Diagnostics: 77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_025D1FF3-364-80041010_025D1FF3-229-80041010_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-517-80040154_025D1FF3-237-80040154_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070002_025D1FF3-258-3_B4D0AA8B-920-80070057_B4D0AA8B-920-80070057It looks to me as though your Toshiba Satellite computer currently has two installations of Office: (1) the Office Professional 2007 that you installed, which is not yet activated, and (2) an unactivated preinstalled Trial of the 2007 Office System, which is a special edition of Office preinstalled by the manufacturer/systembuilder that can be activated as one of three different editions of Office depending upon what product key is entered.
It makes sense that you are being told that your product key is not correct, because a product key from packaged discs is a retail key and the product key needed to activate the Office System installation is an OEM (MLK) product key. They don't mix.
Can you uninstall just the 2007 Office System from Control Panel>Programs? If so, do so, then restart twice, then start Word, then enter the product key from your packaged discs. If you can't uninstall just the 2007 Office System, then uninstall everything Office by using the appropriate MS FixIt in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301, restart twice, then do a fresh installation using your discs and their product key.
Let us know how you do :-)
PS: Has nothing to do with the previous installation. If the activation servers thought you were trying to install Office on too many computers at once, they would return an error of "This product has been activated too many times."

Hello a5werthsdzdj,
If you are being informed that your product key is invalid when entering it into setup as Office starts installing, that means the sales channel source of the product key does not match the sales channel source of the installation media. For example, if you were using retail license installation discs and an OEM product key, that would be a situation where the sales channel source of the PK (OEM) did not match the sales channel source of the discs (retail).
Please tell us as much as you can about the source of the PK and the installation media you are using, but don't post the PK.
If you can enter the PK at the beginning of setup, run thru setup, and are notified that the PK is invalid when trying to activate, that's another issue. In that case, follow these instructions:
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" several times to download and start the Utility. When asked, click the "Continue" button. When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.

Hey Thanks Dan for your response
I have installed MS Office 2007 Professional from disk and currently it is allowing me to use it 25 times as it continually asks me for the product code which it won't accept. I expect it is because I didn't uninstall before my other computer crashed ( I couldn't) ......ie. will not allow me to use the software on two computers. What can I do to get it working ? Here is my diagnostics report
