Question

Bought a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. Never touched it but for the past 6 months or so I've been getting the "This computer is not running genuine Windows Error". Calls to Sony support have not been successful and this is a very annoying error that continues to pop-up.
Ran sfc /scannow and it stated that Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
Here's the support log - please advise

Your problem cause is highlighted above. The fact that the file appears in the File Scan Data section means that it's the file itself which is the problem.I would normally have recommended an SFC scan - but you say you've already done one.
try aCHKDSK C: /Ffrom an admin command prompt.you'll need to confirm and reboot.Other than that, you can try replacing the file with a known=good version from a fully-functional system, if you're feeling confident :)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 - the SURT tool may help
