A Moderator is no longer stated to be a Moderator when he posts to a forum where he is a Moderator

    Question

  • I've noticed that when I post messages to forums where I am a Moderator, it is now only listing me as Mike Walsh MVP MVP. In other words the MVP "label" is still coming but the more important "Moderator" label isn't.

This is important because I am many times asking people to post elsewhere or telling them I am moving the thread elsewhere. With the label "Moderator" above my posts, there will be no "who the heck does he think he is telling me to ...." reaction to such posts.

I.e. having the Moderator label above all posts is essential for the continued harmony of the forums. (and for keeping them on topic and flame-free)

  • Thanks Mike known issue,
we'll have it fixed for our next release, we'll show whether you're the moderator, owner, answerer or admin as we use to.

  • Thanks Sam,

    When is the next release?

This was in the 3.0 software so we're talking here about the software going backwards.

  • Planned for the end of April, we're doing monthly releases now.  But since this was a very major update we plan a smaller release next week for a couple high pri items.  I'll look at pulling this bug into next week's release, but can't promise anything.

I understand you look at it as going backwards but when you realize the amount of work that went into this release we just had to balance new improvements with 100% back compatibility.

  • Understood.

I'm an advocate of gradual improvement ....

But I'll admit that if you can get the things that are not improvements out quickly, my overall feeling is that this is an improvement.

However the real test will come when I am next in an Internet café seeing an expensive number of minutes tick all too quickly down. With 3.0 it was sometimes so slow it was taking a couple of minutes every time I moved a post to a different forum. (= one brief message + a move)
