Office Activation problems

Question
-
After many years of owning my copy of Microsoft Office XP I have suddenly encountered problems. It is now telling me that it needs to validate all my office programs, and when I do it tells me that it is non-genuine. My Office CD is an OEM product and the sticker is Pre-installed Non-Windows Software COAs. The diagnostic tool says:

Hi Mozzie,
Your mgadiag report is showing that your installation of Office XP Small Biz is not activated.
Lately, we have noticed a lot of folks posting with similar situations, that their longtime installations of Office XP have suddenly become "nongenuine" due to becoming not activated.
I have copied from a Stephen Holm post to another foum user who had similar symptoms. Please follow the instructions and then post back to let us know how you did:
Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. Your issue appears to be outside the scope of the OGA program forum. In an attempt to assist I would like to provide the following:
Open My Computer located on your desktop.
Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
NOTE: The application data file may be hidden. Use the Tools drop down menu do the following: Folder Options->View->Hidden Files and Folders->Show Hidden Files and Folders to show the folder. Please re-hide the files once you have completed all the steps.
Right click data.dat file, then click Delete.
The data.dat file is for Office, Not OGA.
Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word and activate it.
If product activation was successful try the Office Validation located here:

Hi Stephen,
It worked, thankyou so much. This has been a bugbear for a while. I did notice though that there were two folders under Application Data, one named Office Genuine Advantage and one called Microsoft which had another folder inside it named Office. I actually deleted the data file in Office Genuine Advantage and then realise that there was another one in the Microsoft folder so I deleted that too. And it worked, don't know which one I was supposed to delete but it worked and I am so pleased.
Thankyou again,
