I can't get a subscription even though I've activated OneCare RRS feed

    Hi Microsoft Support,

I've bought a retail Windows Live OneCare, and I've installed it and activated it using my windows live ID. During the installation process however, I was prompted for a windows live ID and so I used my existing hotmail address. Later on however when I tried to use that same ID I got an error message saying the ID was alredy in use, so I created a new one, using the live.com ending. Later when I tried to subscribe I follow the steps but I can't log in with any of the IDs. Please advise me on what I should do next. Is there any way to reset the windows live ID? All I want to do is start using the program. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • So you have installed OneCare from a CD and you have used a LiveID during the installation process? And now you wish to activate with a different LiveID? I'm still not clear on what happened.

Perhaps the best thing for you to do is to uninstall OneCare. Then reinstall from the CD or from http://onecare.live.com and activating with the LiveID of your choice. Make sure you can sign in with that LiveID at http://account.live.com first and when signing in during activation don't copy and paste the ID or password, but type them in.

  • What do you mean by "later on?" Is this to activate a reinstall or on another PC?

Can you log in at http://billing.microsoft.com with the original LiveID? Can you see your active subscription? If so, any subsequent activations must be performed with the same LiveID.

If you need to reset the password for your hotmail LiveID, go to http://account.live.com

  • Hi Steve, I'm able to 'log in' at billing.microsoft.com but i get a message saying I don't yet have a 'billing relationship' and haven't activated a subscription. I'm still trying to get this to work on one pc, so this isn't a reinstall or another PC. The main problem is that I can't get a subscription, which I assume means I won' get the latest updates/virus definitions (under actions to take, one care says I have seven days to subscribe).
