How to setup a transparent proxy to monitor internet usage for all devices on my home network? RRS feed

    Hi all

    I've read various articles on doing the above but it always seems to involve open source type products such as Squid and PFSense. I'd really like to able to do this on my existing WHS machine without running open source apps. My HP Proliant Microserver with WHS 2011 is setup inline with two network cards, one connected to the internet and the other to my router and LAN. So all devices on my network connect to the router, which then gets internet access via the server through its shared internet.

    How do I setup a transparent proxy on WHS so that I can monitor all devices on my network without having to go set the default gateway on each device? 

    There must be a way using Microsoft products or are all proxy and monitoring software packages 3rd party products?

    There was once a product called Microsoft Proxy server, but surely not supported in the way you intend it to use. Also the successor products are not usable on WHS and have relatively harsh requirements not fitting in small networks.
