Affordable audio gateway with 2 ISDN BRI ports for OCS 2007 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I know the compatibility sheet at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/bb735838.aspx, but I notice that the information vendors give about their products is a bit limited. I have seen that the Audiocodes MP11x series are very affordable, meaning they are below 1.000 euros. But too bad, this system only is equipped with analog ports, whereas I need at least two ISDN BRI (aka. ISDN2, as it has 2 channels) ports. Their Mediant 1000 server does have ISDN ports, but it's very hard to find pricings on that system. I have found some prices for systems with 8 ISDN ports, which was about 4.000 euros I think. Same goes for products of Dialogic: I cannot find a good price on a simple system in the Netherlands, only for the relatively expensive DMG2000-series.

So I'm wondering, is there another affordable system that has at least two ISDN ports in it? And is it sold in The Netherlands? I have found the 'Ferrari 20693' for 1.500 euros but I have never heard of that vendor before, so it doesn't really give me a good feeling.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Ruud,

we have made very good experiences with the Audicodes Mediant 1000.
For the 4BRI Version (no FXS) with one power supply you should pay around EUR 1.450,- to 1.500,- plus vat.
Add ~ EUR 230,- for a second power supply.

  • Rudd,

Have a look at the Quintum Tenor BX Series, they have a 2, 4 & 8 port BRI models that should be around the price you are looking for.

  • Thanks everybody for the replies. I will look into the systems you told me about. As I have already seen a setup with an AudioCodes device (MP114), I'm really interested in that Mediant 1000.

Maybe it's an idea for Microsoft to divide the devices into categories like for example: SoHo, SMB, Enterprise, or something alike. Perhaps even add the stock value. This way it's easier to find an appropriate device.

  • I would recommend either the NET Tenor device or the Dialogic DMG2000, both of which contain mulitple BRI ports and are certified with both versions of OCS.

  • Aas far as I know DMG2000 series is PRI only, not BRI.

  • Oops, you are correct.  I mind was thinking PRI and eyes and fingers saying BRI :)
