  • Question

  • The purpose of creating http://www.flasharcadegamessite.com was for my 6yr old and countless others like him to play games in an adult free environment. I believe I've achieved this by ranking number 3 on google for my chosen keyword. After speaking to Yahoo they've acknowledged problems with their indexing and are slowly beginning to index the site. But Microsoft have only indexed 4 pages , why?

Please don't throw content, quality guidlines at me I'm sure google have the same guidlines.

Sex games and adult related material on your first page of search results are what you'll find call this quality?

  • Your correct you only have 4 indexed pages.  Your right Google shares a lot of the same guidelines, however we have different algos to determine what is quality.   That really isn't the issue in your case anyway.  There may be some challenges with the large amount of flash and low amount of text, but I can't say that is the silver bullet.   I am not sure we are picking up your sitemap. Could you sign in to the webmaster tools and submit it manually through the ping service. This could help.

As to the other issue, I am not sure how youre request relates to adult or sex games.  What keywords are you searching on?  Do you have safe search on? I searched for flash games with the settings on moderate (the default) and did not see any adult listings.  I would be glad to share any filter issues with our safe search team.

    Thanks

  • Hi Jeremiah,

I've submitted the sitemap manually via the webmaster tools a few times, it's text based sitemap. As for the pingback service I pasted this into a browser

    http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=[http://www.flasharcadegamessite.com/sitemap.txt]

And I get the error message ' Sorry something went wrong, please try again'

As for the search I used try 'flash arcade' , you would need look at the content of said sites for adult related material,  for an example try here  http://flasharcade.czechian.net/index.php?cat_id=9

[EDIT] Just tried the pingback service but this time with the correct url

    http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=http://www.flasharcadegamessite.com/sitemap.txt

    with response

    Thanks for submitting your sitemap.

  • Hi Jeremiah,

Since following your suggestion of submitting the sitemap via pingback, I still have only 4 pages indexed at msn. Is there a specific problem I need to address. thanks.

I actually just found out about 'Live Search' when looking over my website reports and saw referrers from Live. Made my account and submitted my sitemap.xml file last Thursday night and as of this morning I have 1000+ pages indexed by MSNbot.

I cannot stress more to create a good sitemap. There is plenty of online tools you can use for this purpose. Make sure your robots.txt file isn't restricting the bots you want to visit your site. Generally I let them all in with the * and just tell them which directories to stay away from.

Bot's look for text for the most part so stick some key words and links to your pages or others. Sites with pics all over the place generally don't fare well with a bot. Blogs and Forums do the best. MSNbot was visiting my site before but now since the acct creation and upload/validation of my sitemap.xml the MSNbot is on my site several times a day.

Bot's look for content and make sure you don't have broken links etc... read up on SEO.
