Forums slow.... RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Nice work, overall the forums look much more professional than the original msdn forums. However the overall experience feels sluggish.

    machine config:

    1) Pentiun 3.6 ghz processor.
    2) 4 gig ram
    3) windows vista SP1
    4) IE7

    Areas of slowness:

    1) Opening a forum. It appears you are doing a client side refresh via ajax to display the each page of the posts in the forums. This really makes the overall experience feel slow. not sure you can do much about that except go back to a screen refresh.

    2) Editor. The animation to bring up the editor from the bottom of the screen is annoying. Very slow and the user has to wait at least 4-5 seconds before the animation completes (editor stop growing up the screen from the bottom). Cool concept but too annoying. Either increase the response in the animation or kill the animation an pop-up the editor quickly!

Don't get me wrong, overall these forums look professional an very cool. So much nicer than what we are used to. If you can increase overall performance the enter experience will be awesome! Great work!
