An issue stop me upgrading from crm 3.0 to crm 4.0 RRS feed

  • HI to all,

    we are tying to upgrade our crm 3.0 rollup 3 installation to crm 4.0.

    During the upgrade, something goes wrong with this error:

    Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ImportDefaultDataAction failed ---> Microsoft.Crm.BusinessEntities.CrmSecurityException: Not enough privilege to access the Microsoft CRM object or perform the requested operation.

    The user is domain administrator, machine administrator, and is CRM administrator...

    Any ideas?

  • Are you using the same AD account that was used to origonally install CRM 3.0?   If not and that account is not availalbe you will need to jump thru some hoops to make it upgrade. 

    Unistall CRM 3

    Restore the CRM databases (MSCRM and Metabase)

    Run the Redeployment Wizard

    Install CRM 3 and connect to existing database

    apply rollups to the level you are currently at with 3

    and thend rerun the upgrade.

     

    CRM 3 has a very tight integration with AD and some of the headaches with upgades came from this issue.   It seemed like the CRM 3.0 system hardwwired the user that installed the system into the CRM application at some level.  So the user that you are using is getting kicked out by the web service.   So you need to get that users AD account assoicated with the install that is what the redeployment tool does.
