  • Hi,

Please download the Genuine Advantage tool from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 then you should see part of your product key (last 15 characters) after running the tool.  If it matches your product key from the COA sticker, you may proceed to use the Windows Product Key Update Tool to change your product key.  It's located at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/pkuinstructions.aspx

    Hope that helps.

  • Spikegsm,

If you purchased the same Edition of XP as is now installed (XP Home or Pro), the Key Updater should be able to "genuine-ize" your installation of XP.  The Key Updater is not designed to work on Tablet or Media Center editions of XP.

If the purchased edition differs, you will have to offload your data and do a clean installation using the genuine OEM media you purchased.
