URL field type RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, I wanted to ask cause I've searched with no answers for this.  My question is where can I find information on using the URL field type in CRM 4.0.  I was wondering about how to make the display value and the actual url separate.  THrough .net I'm setting the contents of the field to be "CRMSERVER"/sfa/accts/edit.aspx?id=(GUID)

I would like to programmatically set the display value to be the Organization name.  Anythoughts?

  • Hi Raven,

this is also not possible in standard. You have to develope a custom Plug-In which manipulates the HTML-content of the E-Mail.

  • Hi Raven,

the URL field type only supports an identical URL and display value.

You could use unsupported JScript and an additional attribute for storing the display value by manipulating the original URL field in the OnLoad-event.

  • Ok, well given that there is no way to set it in the properties, and bearing in mind that I am relatively new to developing for CRM 4.0, is there anyway that I could convert the url into displaying the organization name as a clickable link in an email from a workflow.

  • Thanks, that'll save me a lot of headaches.  Are there any resources that you know of that show creating a plugin similar to this.  Like one that manipulates the HTML of the email.  The only plugins I've created so far are plugins that are attached to specific events.

Here's a question, if I had the plugin that I developed construct the full link tag would that be possible.  If I had it create "<a href='CRMSERVER/sfa/accts/edit.aspx?id={GUID}'>OrganizationName</a> and save it in the field, would CRM block that kind of tag from working, declaring it harmful text?
