Blue spinner

Question
-
I am running Windows 7 64 bit on Parallels Desktop 8. My copy of Windows was OEM from Amazon and worked fine since 2011 until a month ago and then started getting Build 7601, This copy of windows is not genuine.
When I click on the windows validate window, I get the blue spinner that NEVER stops.

I was working on the .evtx project when windows froze and then literally vanished. Fortunately my files were backed up. I used my OEM disc and the authentication number worked but today I had to do an automated telephone authentication and it was accepted since I have only used this disc on one computer. Thanks again for all your help. Dennis

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth No - I do not work for Microsoft, or any of its contractors. C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(1333, 5) (null): 0xC0000034This error can be a hard nut to crack unless we get lucky. I assume you've attempted a System Restore back to a few days before the system started complaining?
Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.
SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive Public folder (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.
Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

My copy of WIN 7 is OEM and I used it twice on same IMAC, once with Boot Camp and once with Parallels 8. That is why I can't authenticate and MS wants $149 for a new authentication key.

That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the problem showing here. You have a configuration or file error causing your problem.
- and besides which, you are within your rights to have either the VM (Parallels) or the bare-metal (Boot Camp) install (but not necessarily at the same time)
Please follow my recommended procedure.

Hello Noel,
Thank you for your ongoing interest in trying to help me with my problem. After SFC Scan I got this message: "Resource Protection did not find any Integrity Violation." Here is link to the CBS.log file: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=C7D671E2B1783AB9%21125

There appear to be no obvious problems in the CBS.log - we'll have to look elsewhere.
I have seen similar errors caused by corruption in the Catroot2 folder...
Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt
NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVConce complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.
Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

I could have sworn that I responded to this earlier!
There are no problems showing in your CBS.log, and SFC was clear - so we'll have to look elsewhere. Unfortunately the 0034 error you are getting is not very descriptive.
Please open Event Viewer
In the left pane, navigate to the Windows Logs
right-click on Applications and select 'Save all events as...' save as Apps.evtx
repeat for the System logs - save as Sys.evtx
Compress both files, and upload them to your Skydrive - post a new link.

You asked for this two replies ago. I wasn't sure if you wanted it again so I just did it. I'll get going on the Event Viewer thing. I am learning how to use DOS, compression and skydrive. Thanks again

I was working on the .evtx project when windows froze and then literally vanished. Fortunately my files were backed up. I used my OEM disc and the authentication number worked but today I had to do an automated telephone authentication and it was accepted since I have only used this disc on one computer. Thanks again for all your help. Dennis
