Problem validating Vista Ultimate RRS feed

  • Question

  • The main problem right now is that I cannot get Windows to validate my Vista Ultimate operating system and it won't accept my product key as valid.  The HP tech replaced my motherboard yesterday, but now my computer "does not support the system recovery disks" purchased from HP.  If I can work around the validation and product key issues, maybe I would not have to do a system recovery at all.  What should I do?

  • Please try the following:

Click on the blue "Change product key" link in the Windows activation section of your System Properties panel.  You can access the System Properties panel by right-clicking on Computer in the Start menu and choosing Properties.  Enter your product key when prompted to do so, and press Next.

If you get an error code please post it here.

If this activation attempt succeeds, and you're still having trouble validating post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012), so I can help you troubleshoot further.  Also, please include validation failure web page error code.  It will be gray and in brackets at the end of the message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).

    Thanks!

Sorry to just now respond to your email but I didn't know where to look for your response.  I only found it through a Google Alert on my name, but, nevertheless, I saw it finally.

To make a long story short, I am returning my new computer to HP for repair and system recovery, so your job is done.  Thank you for replying and trying to help.
