Not enough free disk space on home server to complete operation.

Question

I have a HP MSS EX495 with 1.5 TB. I installed the client software on Windows without issue (130gig went to that), but after installing it on the Mac it first said that the Mac folder was deleted (which I never did), so I added a Mac shared folder from Windows and that worked, but now the Client Software install on the Mac is telling me that the 500GB of space I want to allocate is too much, but I know I have enough. I tried 400, 300, and 285, which is what it tries by default, and all produce the same error in the title.Any idea how I can allocate the space I need for my Mac?Thursday, December 31, 2009 9:26 PM

The Mac support is something that HP added, not part of Windows Home Server. Your best bet will probably be to contact HP tech support directly.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Marked as answer by Jonas Svensson -FST- Tuesday, February 9, 2010 1:16 AM

I believe the way the Mac backups work, it writes to one large many-GB file the size of your disk. In this case, even if your storage pool has free space, you must have at least one drive with that much free space. WHS will not break up one file into multiple drives.Thursday, January 21, 2010 1:04 AM

I have one drive with 1TB space available. But I get not enough disk space error while creating a backup of size 130GB. What can I do to fix the error?Thursday, January 21, 2010 4:10 AM

I was able to get it to work after a reboot of the server. I did not change anything else.

THANK YOU - rebooting my HP server solved the problem for me too.
To reboot, click Launch Home Server Console. In the console, click the Settings button in the upper right corner of the screen. Then click the Shut Down button.
