Can't Change from Public to Home & Work on Host Computer! Therefore, Can't Backup!

Question
-
I have had the techician support person in United Statest set my three computers up so that this Windows One Care would work on all three computers for backup. I thought everything was corrected, but now I have message that my firewall on my device PC is set to public. I have a virutal PC on my host computer and I'm trying to get the backup to work. When I seek to change the network setting from public to "home & work"on my host computer, it will not change. Why? Also, I have a laptop that is wireless within the same circle so I have used up my 3 computers within my circle. However, I am unable to backup wireless. Do I continue to connect to the host computer by usb direct? The same problem I'm having on my laptop, I'm having on my virtual PC. How do I change from public to "home and work" when I have no option to change? What am I missing? I have a feeling the answer is simple, but I'm to stupid to figure it out.

You can't change from Public to Home/Work because the Virtual network adapter that was installed on your host PC has caused you to have two active network connections on the same box.
That would also be why the other PC cannot backup to this box, since File and Printer sharing is being blocked, so the attached drive can't be accessed by the other PC. You may be able to get around this by going to the advanced firewall settings and setting both File and Printer sharing options as enabled in the ports and protocols tab.
On the laptop, you should be able to open OneCare and click change settings, firewall tab, configure network and select Home or Work.

Thank you for your help! I will try your information and get back with you if it doesn't work. Either way! I will let you know if it also succeeds. I managed to do a backup to my laptop by hooking it direct, but my host PC still says it needs to be backed up. Also, I finally managed to get a backup to my virtual PC, but likewise it says on my host computer I need to backup the files. Windows One Care is not receiving the correct informatiin. Or, it didn't backup the files.

Update!!!!!!
I just did what you asked me to do and this is what happens: Within Windows Live One Care Firewall Advanced Settings I have two Network connections One connection is identified as "Nvidia Nforce Network." However, the other is an unidentified network with multipule connections. I click on zone and change both to home and work, but it seems after I complete a backup the "unidentified network multituple connections" changes back to public so backup's are being prevented. As far as "Ports and Protocols" file & printer sharing" has already been checked. There was no problem in this area.
Should I leave it as it is, or is there a reason for my own protection Windows One Care automatically changes to Public Network?
