Service Issues? RRS feed

  • Question

  •  I have been using Mesh since the 21st. This morning I am getting a message from the desktop application that says "unable to connect to Live Mesh." When I try to log on through mesh.com I am prompted to agree to the terms of service just like when I signed up, and then I get an error page:

Sorry, we were unable to create your Live Mesh account. Please try again.

I've had an account for a while now, so this seems a little strange. Anyone else experienced/experiencing this issue?

  • Hi everyone,

As many of you noticed, there was an interruption in the Live Mesh service last night during regular maintenance. The root issue has been fixed and all services are back online. Sorry for the disruption and thank you for using Live Mesh Tech Preview.

  •   I got exactly the same issue! I dont know if that is because of my account. I did not change anything and it worked without any problems up to now.

    My code is:

  • I got the same issue, as well.  My XP machine shows that I am not signed in, and trying to connect to the Live Desktop gives that same error.  On my Vista machine, it "looks" like I'm signed in on Mesh (the systray notifier is blue, not gray), but again trying to connect to Live Desktop I get the same error.  I'm guessing at this point that the service must be down.

It would be helpful if there was a "Service Status" link on the client where we could find out quickly whether we were having client-side issues or not.  Just a thought.

Is there a status page we can check?

  • I am having the same issue as well.  I didn't look at my two home computers before I left today to see what the status icon looks like on them, but when I try to sign into my account I get the error already mentioned in the thread.

  • I'm seeing 404 errors when using the mobile browser to mesh (https://m.mesh.com/m/Livefolders/News.aspx), so I suspect it's all down at the moment

  • I noticed that my icon was gray a little while ago and it reported that I should check my network connection. I logged out and logged back in and it connected just fine, so I must have caught the tail end of the problem.

  • Hi hgeek,

Error code 00000040,5 could indicate a few things.  Please submit a bug report with your logs so that we can take a look.  Instructions for collecting logs and submitting bugs are in an Announcement at the top of the forums.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  •  I am still seeing the 00000040,5 error when ever i attempt to connect to one particular server in my mesh.  I will submit a bug report with logs, just thought I would let you know it was still going on.

  • Hi Mesh team,

glad you fixed the problem so quickly.

I think on the other hand that yesterday's outage also showed a more general problem with the current implementation: All functionaly of the mesh right now depends on the availability of your cloud datacenter. If that is not available, either because there is a problem on your side or maybe because my internet provider is down or some other reason, nothing works. At the same time, there are certain things that could still work: I have two computers here on my LAN in the same subnet, they could easily continue synching stuff. In a smiliar direction, if we at a later point will get mobile phone clients, it would also be great if my phone could sync with my laptop, even when neither one has a connection to the cloud.

Essentially such functionality was present already in a number of MS products: Groove had it and the whole windows P2P stack is build around this idea. Any chance to make the mesh client work to some extend even when the cloud is gone, like sync with nodes on the LAN? From all I understand about the architecture of feedsync this should actually be not too much of a problem, right?

    Best,
    David

  • anyone notice that they pulled their "live mesh for macs" download from the site yesterday?  second time theyve released it then pulled it.  you think theres any correlation between that issue and this issue?

  • Live Mesh has not worked for me for several days now, don't know if it has anything to do with the 21st update or not, but it would appear to be correlated since others are having the same issue.  I run mesh across a variety of networks and through different platforms to test it as it develops and learn it's best use case scenarios.  It is clearly broken, since I was able to access most platforms through most networks previously and now cannot connect to anything anywhere.
