70-291>>MCSA2003>>70-648??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi you all,

I need some advise on my MCSA 2003 certification.
I tried to use the Certication Planner
but I think that I am reading it wrong (it is kind of confusing for me).

    i did teh follwoing exams:

    70-210

    70-290

    70-271

    70-272

knwoing that 70-271 and 70-272 results in MCDST XP, i'm preparing now for exam 70-291...is it wrong choice to

get MCSA 2003 , as i'm planning to take the exam 70-648 later on to upgrade my (future) MCSA 2003 to MCITP 2008.

    Your feedback is highly appreciated

    Thanks

    Najee

  • Having just completed my MCSA and now upgrading my best advise would be not to use MCDST as your elective as you are taking 2 exams instead of one and also 70-210 is a retired exam as its for Windows 2000 professional.

For MCSA you need 70-290 and 70-291 then a Client OS Elective this can be 70-270, 70-620 or 70-680 then one elective exam(Which the MCDST could be used towards but it would not be worth it unless you have already completed)

Take a look here for a list

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcsa.aspx#tab2

It all depends on what you are already doing to which path you take I had to take MCSA as this was the only way to get a wage increase from the work the MCITP not being recognised as qualifying (strangely enough in a large IT company).

My personal track to do mine was starting of with the OS exam 70-270 then moving on to 70-290 and 70-291 before taking 70-680 as my elective. 70-680 gives me a good starting block for moving on to my MCITP.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Kevin
