E-Learning for the 70-536 Exam

Question

Hi there,
This is the first exam I've aiming to take in order to get mcpd. My question is...do you you guys think that the 2 e-learning courses suggest by Microsoft are enough to help me pass the exam. Or do you think I might need to do a class based course?
Thanks in advance!Thursday, April 30, 2009 4:58 PM

Hi,
It really depends on how much you have used .Net and in particular how much of the tested material you already know.
I doubt the elearning alone would get you through without experience.
I suggest you get the latest version of Microsofts training guide, this includes tests so you can access where you stand.
You can then go through the material you are weak on.
The E-Learning courses are very good, but I would use them as a suppliment to the training guide.
Hope this helps and good luck,
Ozzy Geoff

Hello Ozzy and others who are viewing this topic,
1) Can you please suggest an URL that will direct me to latest version of Microsoft training guide?
2) If I pass MCTS, would that make me MCP certified? I've seen some of threads that said 'yes' to this question but those answers were posted few years ago. I'm wondering if there id any major change that I need to be aware of.
3) In order to get MCTS, will I need to pass two exam (536 and 528)?
Thanks -

Hi,
1) The Microsoft training guide is a published book with a disc including practice questions.
2) Not sure, but if you are MCTS there is no need to worry about MCP.
3) Yes both 2.0 and 3.5 .Net exams require 536 as a prerequisite so 536 + 528 would give you MCTS.
Hope this clears up at least one question

Hi Ozzy,
Thanks for the replies. You've basically reinforced what I suspected but I thought I'd ask the question.
Cheers,
