Cannot acces MS CRM 3.0 after active Directory Change RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

We suffered a big crash in our company and we must change the AD completely, creating a new one and migrating all the services, users and servers to the new active directory structure.

All was oik but the CRM 3.0 installation.

I was attempting to open Deployment Manager, but under the main branch, I view only "license manager" nothing else ...

How can I recover my CRM implementation? (of course I have a database plenty of info and I must use it)

    Kind regards

    Javier

  • There are 2 options:

    1. Run a repair installation (this should be an option if you run the Server setup). This may be sufficient, but I don't think this will let you map the user accounts
    2. Uninstall CRM Server (but make sure you keep the database). Then reinstall CRM Server, taking the option 'Connect to Existing Database'. This should let you map all the user records in the database to the user accounts in the new AD

  • If David suggestions do not work, the other option is to install a new CRM server (hopefully you have the 3.0 disc) and then migrate the data to the new server.  You'll have to map the record owners as part of the migration.

Having said the above, if this were me or someone I was working for, I would encourage them to install CRM 2016 instead and perform a data migration using the SQL backup and Kingswaysoft SSIS integration toolkit.  I see no value in re-installing CRM 3.  I would begin with the latest version and work with it to restore to a working CRM system.  It might even make sense to consider CRM Online with data migration rather than installing CRM On-Premise.
