Win 7 Working until embedded fingerprint reader installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • So i got this Lenevo laptop from my uncle just a few months ago.. it was a complete wreck and had not been taken care of or optimizzed so i restored everything and got this thing runing amazingly to the point he paid me to do the same to his other one. Anyways, the one thing i hated about this laptop was Windows Vista. My usua rig i bout a few years ago came with it and after a year of use i quickly decided to let Linix be the main OS till Microsoft got their ____ together. I already have Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop as well as 64 bit Linux but now i wanted & on here. So i bought the 7 Ultimate Via the store here At ARizona State University because my student discount was great and i saved 60 bucks. i ran the compatibility check.. got rid of a few programs i knew would interfere and then upgraded.. all was well.. i updated windows with all the updates.. both recommended and the optional ones i knew i could use. But then i went about restoring the Lenevo ThinkVantage tools that come on the Leneovo partion to their Windows 7 updated brethren and majority of them worked and updated just fine. However, after i installed the software for the fingerprint reader that is embedded and intergrated with windows Log-on, i continually get YOU may be a victim of Piracy BS. And it is really annoying. Windows apparently determined that the software changed core sys32 files and it is either a virus or not genuine which i assure you it is. I put in a trial license and that worked for a bit but still the Notice message. Additionally, in the system info page.. when  i go put my genuine key in.. i thinks and it appears that it will accept it.. then last minute.. it rejects my key.. says that there was an unknown error and MS may have blocked my key. Which is ridiculous because i barely bought this 3 days ago. I have gone through boot options and all is fine. i am an IT intern and computer manager who repairs computers all the time and i'm lost on this. Services.msc reports that the service is running. Ran AVG through Hirens and all was well. Eventviewer says all is well as well. i thought maybe if i reinstalled windows that it will be fixed, so i repaired windows and still the same thing. Ever since the fingerprint software was installed this thing has been screaming at me. So a little help please. I need someone with a greater Knowledge than i. :) And don't you dare say 42 is the answer. :P i already tried that.

Unfortunately, the installed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate is a known pirated, counterfeit and non-genuine copy.  Whomever you purchased this copy from needs to refund your purchase.  In order to fix this issue, you'll need to purchase a genuine "full version" edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install".  You can purchase genuine Microsoft Windows 7 software from the  Microsoft Store.

Okay so i bought this Laptop from my uncle last year and it has worked wonderfully. i recently purchased Windows 7 Ultimate from the Microsoft store. As an IT intern and computer manager i hate Vista and prfere to use it only as a last resort. i'd rather stick to Linux Ubuntu. Anyways.. after i installed Win 7 and fixed the incompatible software all was fine. Until i reinstalled the fingerprint software to the latest version from ThinkVantage. about 15 minutes after i installed it. Windows 7 INSISTS that i have been a victim of software piracy. Which i am not because honestly, it's simple to do but just not worth the hassle. So from what it appears to be after digging through the registry and sys32.. i have deduced that Win 7 Ultimate has decided that my fingerprint scanner that is embedded in the laptop and intergrated with windows Log-on is not supposed to be there and says i have changed sys32 files. Additionally, i am on a trial license at the moment and when i change the product key via the System info, IT says that there was a freaking internal error with my Serial. IT will not tell me what specifically is wrong and tells me to try again. Yes, i have to services.msc and made sure the service is on.. i've digged through eventviewer and i have a variable cornicopia of nothingness. SO i am stepping aside and hopefully someone with greater knowledge than me can helpme out on this. Until then i will Forsake Windows and stay in Ubuntu till someone can guide me through this.

    Here is DXdiag analysis.

  • IF you ask about the CD key, i know it is wrong or a bad version. i put it there purposely. What i want to know is why My actual code will not be accepted when i try to put it in. That code up i used at first was given to me by a friend. Suppossedly it was a trial version.

  • Hello, MisterMurdoc14

What is the exact error when you enter the key that you purchased?

If it just deactivated after installing the fingerprint software because of modified system files, you can check with Lenovo if there is an updated version of the software that is compatible with Windows 7.

If there is no compatible version, you may not be able to use the software.

Because the installation disc used to install the non-genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate will only accept the OEM Windows 7 product key it was designed for.  You will need to use a conventional Windows 7 installation DVD that is associated with your new product key and perform a "clean install".
