Download Templates Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently got my copy of Microsoft Office 2007. It installed with no problems and all the programs seem to work perfectly. However, when using Word I tried to download a template the Microsoft Office Genuine Advantage dialog box opens. I followed the steps to make sure that my software was genuine. It said that my copy was counterfeit. So I downloaded the Genuine Microsoft validation thing it told me to download. I ran the program and installed it. I went back into Word to try and get the template but the same thing happened again and again. I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do.

  • Joseph Mort,

Please submit a piracy report by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/piracy. Also have you contacted them and requested a refund?  You can try this and let them know what you are experiencing and that you are currently submitting a piracy report to Microsoft. See what response you receive. Also I will forward this up but still you need to submit a piracy report. There may be a possibility I could need additional information from you.

    Thank you,

  • You need to buy a genuine copy of Microsoft Office, and if you bought this at a store or somewhere, then file a piracy report at 1-800-RULEGIT

  • I bought this from JourneyEd.com. Why isn't that good enough?

  • Joseph Mort,

It's frustrating but the reality is that quite a high percentage of Microsoft software "purchased" from download sites is counterfeit.

Hopefully you paid with a credit card--if so, please contact your credit card company to see if you have recourse to initiate a chargeback.

What edition of Office 2007 did you buy?

  • Joseph Mort,

Please run the mgadiag utility and post the report.

It's possible that another installation of Office that was on the computer is being flagged by the Validation process.  This happens a lot when there is an expired  trial version of Office installed along with a legitimate installation.
