  • I would like to use the tool to see the Moon, Earth and the Sun...and where each of them are relative to a particular time.  (e.g. perhaps current time ) .

Is there a way to configure the tool so I can do this ?

  • Yes, you can achieve this very easily in WWT. Please follow the steps given below.

    1) Open WorldWide Telescope.
    2) From LookAt Combo Box (in the left down) select Solar system
    3) Zoom down near to Earth to see the sun, earth and moon.

Apart from this you can also see the relative position at any future time and also the movement from one time period to another time period.

To see the live transitions or furture transition go to View tab in WWT and set the observing time. It will set the relative location of planets correctly.

To increase the speed of transitions of the planets from one time to another, say from 31 Oct 2012 to 01 Nov 2035 then increase the speed using fast forward. Then you will be able to view the planets transitions continously for these periods.

Please let me know if this helps you.
