  • While your issue is not specifically related to a WGA issue, try downloading the update directly, then install it:

  • Still wouldn't load. Got the following description:

Update could not identify the installed product version. The installation may be damaged.

    Should I do a reinstallation/fix problems of win2000?

  • That particular update requires your Windows 2000 installation to have Service Pack 4 installed.  Once you install SP4 for Windows 2000, try this download:

  • Already loaded and I still get the same message.

Update could not identify the installed product version. The installation may be damaged.

I'm thinking I may need to do a repair with my Win2000 installation disk.

  • Hello.

I have the same problem, when automatic updates tries to install KB911562, the system can't install it, the erro is the same, "Update could not identify the installed product version. The installation may be damaged." I try to install the fix manually, and i try to reinstall Service Pack 4 for windows 2000. and I try to reinstall MDAC, but the problem persists. ¿Are your problem soled? If you encountered the solution, please, tell me. Thank you very much

  • Hi,

I also have the same problem. This update continues to fail to install while others are installed successfully. How important is this update? I would greatly appreciate a solution to this issue.
