CRM 2013 Applications (windows 8 and phones) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone;

    I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of why the windows 8 and phone apps require you to be IFD for CRM 2013? Some of the other third party solutions don't require that at all. If i'm already on the network where the CRM lives on prem why can't I connect directly? I'm just trying to wrap my head around this.

    Thanks a bunch!

  • I don't know the official reason, but my best guess is that Microsoft put this requirement to standardize the connection and the troubleshooting for their mobile apps.

  • Your corporate network is private and not usually accessible directly to the internet, so in order to connect with a phone you need to open up your CRM application securely by implementing an IFD configuration. The alternative would be to use a VPN client on your phone.
