Changing Curency in Quote

Question

What is the common practice when you have to create Quote in currency that differs from currency of Price-List? Is it even possible in CRM 4.0?Thursday, September 18, 2008 12:59 PM

You can't do this.
To have a quote in USD you need to do two things:
-
Add US Dollars as a currency in Settings | Business Management | Currencies.
-
You then need to create a price list in USD and then add all your products to that price list.

It is possible. A quote has a currency - this means that only products that appear on a price list in the same currency as the one used on the quote may be used.
In other words, if you sell products in several currencies you will need to create a price list for each currency and add each product to each price list (as price list items).

ok, but there's an Exchange Rate problem (that it changes every day). Are there any standard methods to create every workday a new Price-List with updated prices? And as i understand, we'll have to save all old Price-Lists so the old Quotes will have original price values?Thursday, September 18, 2008 1:54 PM

I can create my own currency lookup and exchange rate fields, but then i'll get currencyid from that lookup. The thing is I need isocurrencycode too for printing quote for customers (using mail merge templates).Friday, September 19, 2008 6:37 AM

I'm not aware of methods to create new price lists. However, CRM allows you to update the currency exchange rate at any time. It doesn't mantain a history of exchange rates as such. But any record that involves money (such as an order) records money fields in both the base currency of the installation and the currency used on the record (if different) based on the exchange rate in effect at the time. Updating the exchange rate will not affect old records only new records will use the latest exchange rate.

For example we have Price-list in Euro (all product prices are in Euro) and Euro is our base currency of the installation, We need to create Quote in USD using products from that Price-list. When we're creating Quote and selecting price-list, the Currency lookup field value is the currency of that Price list - Euro and the field is unchangable. Where exactly i can change currency of Quote without having other Price-list with USD values?

I also have a similar issue.
In CRM, we have the current cost of the materials listed in CAD currency. We have one Price List that is in CAD dollars. Wwe are marking up the Price of the material by 40% of Current Cost in our Price List.
However there are certain US customers who need quotes in US Dollars.
I tried creating a new Price List in US dollars and then adding our Products to that List as a 40% markup of current Cost.
However CRM gave me an error saying that the Currency of the Product and the Currency of the Current Price List has to be the same when the pricing method is percentage.
I cannot understand what's the use of having multi-currency multi-price List.?
My base cost of a Product is in CAD dollars and I need to quote a US customer the same Product at a 40% markup of the Current cost, however in US Dollars.
Is this possible in CRM 4.0 Online? any input is appreciated.

It seems that you are correct. I tried this and could only add a price list item in a currency that is different from the product currrency that uses currency amount. In other words using any of the percentage methods for calculating a price only works when the currency of the price list and the product are the same.
I think that is an unnecessary restriction in the application.
I'm afraid that I don't know if CRM Online behaves differently but I would imagine not.

Has anyone got a solution to this poroblem yet?
Without having the ability in CRM to add products with a different currency (other than the currency of the Price List) to a Price List and having the pricing methods as Percent or Markup of the Costs, what are the other posibilities for this scenario?
I am in desparate need for a solution for this scenario ...
Any input is appreciated....
