SyncToy sync failure on CMD Task Scheduler run on Windows 10

    Question

  • Hello all,

I ran SyncToy from Task Scheduler on Windows 7 without any issues. On Windows 10, it just doesn't seem to work.

The task was created the same way but when ran on schedules, the CMD would show the following (from SyncToy Log):

The program does sync flawlessly when ran manually but if I have to run it manually every time, I might as well replace the files myself.

I've done a clean reinstall of the program to no avail. Does anyone have a solution?

If not, I'm going to start looking for alternatives.

  • Hi,

Did you ever get to the bottom of this problem?   I have the same issue, but running on Windows Server 2012.  It runs fine in interactive mode, but fails with task scheduler.

  • Hello,

I have been running into the same issue for a while now and found a workaround. I created a simple batch file that calls SyncToy, then created a scheduled task to run the batch file.

The batch file looks like below:

    To run a specific backup - "C:\Program Files\SyncToy 2.1\SyncToyCmd.exe" -R "NameOfBackupInSyncToy"

    or

    To run all of your backups - "C:\Program Files\SyncToy 2.1\SyncToyCmd.exe" -R
