Microsoft Certification Exam Pack Voucher

Question
-
Hi guys,
I would like to confirm about Microsoft Certification Exam Pack which described here (http://bsf01.com/microsoft_vouchers/mcsd_webapps.aspx).
1. How many second shots will I get if I use that voucher? Is it one for each exam (which is three second shot) or one for any exam that I failed (which is only one).
2. When is the expire date of using second shot? Is it May 31, 2014 or December 31, 2014?
2. Do I need to pass an exam first before continue taking another exam? For example, I must take and pass 70-480 first before taking 70-486, and so on.
Thanks.

Hi,
My understanding is:
1. One second shot per exam.
2. May 31, 2014 to take all exams.
3. Yes, or at the very least take the first exam. Taking the exam triggers the system so that the voucher code can be used again.

Exam packs can be taken until December.
Information about the exam packs used to be in included in the second shot page in the special offers section of Microsoft learning website. Some months ago Microsoft Learning thought it was a excellent idea for them to redesign the second shot page and delete all reference to the exam packs.

if you would like to see the second shot page before the Microsoft learning messed it up/redesigned it, with the exam pack information still included, it's available at the waybackmachine site

Certifying with Microsoft really shouldn't be this hard.... sigh.

Thanks. We have same understanding on number 1 and 3.
But number 2, I kinda confused.
In one of the FAQs, it states "The Second Shot Certification Exam Packs are offered beginning September 20, 2013 through May 31, 2014 for purchase. The vouchers are valid for use on the initial and retake attempts through December 31, 2014."
My understanding is we could purchase the voucher between September 30, 2013 and May 31, 2014.
After purchase, we could use the voucher (including Second Shots) until December 31, 2014.
Is it correct? I just want to confirm before buying the voucher.

Hi,
I am not sure where you found that information. Can you reply with the URL? I will forward all of this to my colleague at Microsoft Learning for resolution. From everything I know and what I am reading, you have to compete the exams for second shot by May 31.
As per this page: http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/offers/second-shot-offer-existing-IT-Pro
"The Second Shot offer is available until May 31, 2014. Both initial and free retake exams must be scheduled and completed by May 31, 2014."
As per this page:http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/second-shot.aspx
"Additional terms and conditions
-
Second Shot voucher offer is available from September 1, 2013, to May 31, 2014.
-
Exam voucher expires on May 31, 2014, for single exams with 070 and 071 prefixes, commercial MTA exams (with a 098 prefix), and Microsoft Dynamics exams."

Hi Mike,
Here is the URL where I got the information: http://bsf01.com/microsoft_vouchers/mcsd_webapps.aspx.
Just go there and choose Frequently Asked Questions. It will redirect you to this site: https://www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/Microsoft/Pages/FAQ.aspx.
You could see the second question which states "The Second Shot Certification Exam Packs are offered beginning September 20, 2013 through May 31, 2014 for purchase. The vouchers are valid for use on the initial and retake attempts through December 31, 2014."
Also at additional term and conditions below there (the first point) which states "The Certification Exam Packs purchased from September 20, 2013 through May 31, 2014 will expire on December 31, 2014 (includes Second Shot)."
From my understanding, the link that you give above points to different certification offer. So there will be differences between terms and conditions.
Glad if you can forward this ambiguity to your colleague. So we could get the answer for sure.

Wow.
Nice finding DataCruncher. Never thought of using WayBack Machine.
I wonder why Microsoft want to delete all reference to the exam packs? Because I think that's the best deal to earn MCSD compared with single exam second shot and 3-for-1 voucher.
So, is the voucher still valid for use? Considering the reference to the exam packs has been deleted right now.

Hiya, yes you're good to go with those vouchers.
Microsoft Learning website has never been a reliable source of information in the last couple of years that I've been using it. I did highlight errors with the website to Microsoft support, but now it seems they've solved the issue of conflicting information by just removing much of the content from all over the site. Shame really. What's left is accurate, just very incomplete! You just have to find the information elsewhere, thanks Google. Enough moaning.. go study, have fun, enjoy! Oh, I have no idea about Microsofts future plans, but in recent years they've always run the second shot offer for the single exams throughout most of the year. It takes a break over summer but will likely be back again after a few months. So it won't be too long before the second shot offer is probably back again. So get studying and you'll be ready to buy some more exams :P
